J.H.Schmelzer,
|
||
| about this recording: Johann Heinrich Schmelzer, like Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, numbers among the great personalities of the "Viennese violin school" of the 17th century. The six Sonatas for violin and basso continuo, published in 1664, form a cycle in which Schmelzer exploited and expanded many of the techniques and possibilities new at that time. With this CD, the picture of early violin music will therefore be illuminated from yet another angle, especially since this cycle has until now been represented in the discography only by recordings of individual sonatas. |
