| about this recording: Joseph Martin Kraus celebrates his 250th
birthday this year. In view of this anniversary, we are particularly
happy to present this second, concluding CD of the complete recording of
Kraus’ ten surviving string quartets. It is the summation of our over
twelve-year occupation with these works. Important for us was the
portrayal of Kraus’ entirely independent approach to this genre (first
CD: CCD 224). The Joseph Martin Kraus Quartet was founded in 1993.
Together with Andrea Keller and Antje Sabinski, Werner Ehrhardt, as
artistic director and concertmaster of Concerto Köln, has formed a
characteristic interpretational style of historical performance practice
– documented on numerous recordings and by international prizes –
that thrills audiences and critics alike. |
