| about this recording: The reign of Elizabeth I was considered
England’s golden age already during the Queen’s lifetime, and not
just because of her great political successes. Culturally, the kingdom
experienced an extraordinary blossoming. To the present day, the works
of Shakespeare and his contemporaries are considered pinnacles of world
literature. And also the musicians who worked in the sphere of the court
of London succeeded in creating for the island state a fascinating
idiosyncratic musical language. In its concerts, B-Five pursues the goal of
offering its audience the marvelous English consort music of the
sixteenth century in all its fascinating beauty, emotionality, and
power. In doing so, the ensemble relies not just on intensive studies of
historical performance practice, but combines it with an animated and
spontaneous manner of music-making. |
