| about this recording: In 1996, Bernhard Schullan moved to Bamberg.
That was an inducement for him to look for fellow musicians for a jazz
band; after telling the pianist and keyboard player Günter Schmuck of
his plans, and soon after the double bass player Christian Hellwich (member
of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra). From swing via Latin to modern jazz
including expeditions into more open spaces, they have covered the whole
spectrum of jazz in many performances and rehearsals, in this way
developing into a perfectly attuned hot rhythm group. More than 10 years
after the trio was founded, the time has come to record its musical
activities on sound storage media; this CD with a mix of standards in
various styles with their own arrangements is the beginning. As this
kind of jazz simply sounds especially authentic with a wind player as
the front man, the choice fell unanimously on Christoph Hörmann, who
had already joined the band members on stage for various projects and
always aroused enthusiasm with his cultivated sound and wonderful
saxophone lines. |
