about this recording:
Versatility and richness of ideas mark the songs of Zumsteeg and Reichardt, and demonstrate why these composers numbered among the most famous song composers before Schubert, who was greatly influenced by their works. Zumsteeg, a friend of Schiller's, and Reichardt, who was close to Goethe, were able to take recourse to strong texts, texts whose expressiveness was intensified through the dramatic use of the fortepiano. This recording was honored with the Audiophile Reverence, Best of 1998.
